During a recent middle school student forum, students explored the potential benefits, concerns, and key considerations associated with three future school configuration scenarios. Students identified opportunities such as expanded college and career pathways, increased course and activity offerings, facility improvements, and potential cost savings. Many participants saw value in maintaining neighborhood schools and traditions through Scenarios 1 and 2, while recognizing that Scenario 3 could provide the greatest long-term financial savings and educational opportunities.

Students also raised important concerns about transportation, school transitions, class sizes, maintaining school identities and rivalries, athletic participation, and ensuring all students feel connected and supported. Across the discussion, students emphasized the importance of preserving strong school communities, supporting student well-being, providing equitable facilities and programs, and carefully planning any changes to ensure a positive experience for all students.
